     I sometimes mod old hardware to turn it into something cool (change the case for something science fiction themed, for example) and sometimes just give it away.  Even older stuff can find a good home amongst friends looking for something extra to put in their guest room, etc.  Just because it isn't the latest and greatest, ...

  • The end of plastic bottles?

     There are a number of eco friendly companies working on 'organic bottles' that are bio-degradable and last for about three years.  The first company I can think of is Innocent Drinks - they're trialing the bottles in certain parts of the UK, and I gather they've been a success.  I'd love to see more companies ...

    I have several old laptops running linux, and a machine in the kitchen and bedroom, plus a hardware firewall.  I like to buy up all the old machines that schools and local businesses are getting rid of.  Some of them I upgrade so they're at least serviceable by todays standards and then give to people I know who don't have PCs ...

    I prefer to just recycle paper at the local recycling bins, but I guess this could work too. The main thing I'm not sure about at the moment is what to do with sensitive documents that require shredding.  A lot of local businesses shred then burn, which I feel is hardly the most environmentally friendly solution.
