    help1up ==> Furniture recycle/reuse

     Hi! :)

    Your sofa doesn't go with your living room's scheme and wants to get rid of it? Check out help1up, they will remove it form your home. In addition to helping free the environment of unnecessary clutter, the furniture will also be used for a good cause. Check out if they have a local branch near you.

    I have always contacted my local Salvation Army, they are always looking for additional help. Many times they are supporting the very poor in either getting furnitor, or they are giving it to no profit organizations that do not have money and need assistance.

     There's also www.FreeCycle.org which originated from one man's attempt to get rid of an extra bed. :D Now, it's an online flea market where we can get stuff for free or get rid of things. They have a list if cities in their site where they have a local group.

    Re: help1up ==> Furniture recycle/reuse

    We have something like that in our area called 'Foundations' which takes old stuff and will give it to new council tenants moving in as a form of care package, but they have very high standards as to what they will accept, it has to be in almost perfect condition.

    I've always found that rather odd.  The one time I was in need, I would have been happy with any form of help in the short term, but instead of giving us some second hand stuff at a lower cost to the state, they made us wait ages, and then gave us money to buy brand new things.  Seems rather snobbish to me.

     Quite odd indeed. People seldom let go of things in near perfect condition. Sounds like they don't really support recycling, more of like a charity organization. I'd be happy to receive used but still perfectly usable stuff myself. :)
